Responsibilities
Lighting Design & Implementation:
— Create and adjust lighting setups for 3D scenes to achieve the desired mood, realism, or artistic style.
— Work closely with the art director and vfx supervisor to match the visual goals of the project.
Shading Development:
— Develop and apply textures, shaders, and materials to objects, ensuring a high-quality look and feel.
— Maintain consistency in shading across different assets and environments.
Render Optimization:
— Optimize lighting and shading for efficient rendering without compromising visual quality.
— Troubleshoot rendering issues and ensure deliverables are on time.
Collaboration with Teams:
— Coordinate with modelers, animators, and compositors to ensure smooth integration of assets.
— Review and adjust work based on feedback from directors and supervisors.
Problem Solving:
— Resolve technical challenges in lighting and shading pipelines.
— Ensure assets are adaptable for reuse across various scenes or projects.
Requirements
Technical Skills:
— Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Houdini, and similar tools.
— Experience with advanced rendering software, including V-Ray, Corona Renderer, and others.
Experience:
— 2+ years of experience in lighting and shading in film, animation, or gaming.
— A strong portfolio demonstrating lighting and shading expertise.
Artistic Skills:
— Deep understanding of color theory, light behavior, and photographic principles.
— Ability to create visually compelling images while meeting technical constraints.
Problem-Solving Abilities:
— Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in the lighting pipeline.
Soft Skills:
— Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
— Adaptability to feedback and iterative workflows.
You might also have
Proficiency in compositing software (such as Nuke or After Effects) for creating complex visual effects, seamlessly integrating 3D elements into live-action footage, and ensuring photorealistic results.
